Loving Lonny

So the new issue of Lonny has hit computer screens. For those of you who haven't read Lonny before, you are totally missing out. Lonny is the epitome of what happens when a group of creative people get together and let their imaginations run wild--truly inspirational. This issue is so bright and cheerful which is just what I needed on a dreary January day. I've included a few of my favorite images below, but you can go here to read the whole thing from cover-to-cover!

I love the magazine holder. I could really use some of those in my hall closet overhaul. (In case you are wondering, it's still a work-in-progress. . . )

I really need to create a fun inspiration board like this for above my desk. I can't imagine how much more fun it would make working!

I'm not usually a fan of painted doors, but this orange is fabulous. I couldn't wait to go home every day if that was my front door.

How fun is this child's play room? I think decorations for kids should always be bright and playful. This is definitely going in my inspiration folder for the future.

Umm, excuse me? Do they put pictures of closets like this in magazines just to taunt us? If this were my closet, I don't think I would ever leave!

a mess to be made

I probably shouldn't share this photo, but I'm going to:

Is it any better in black and white?

Nope. Black and white is just as bad as real life. In case you are wondering, this is what the floor of my guest bedroom looks like at this very moment. It contains the entire contents of our hall closet. I got really ambitious with the start of a new year and I decided I was going to clean and organize my house from top to bottom. Now I'm starting to wonder if that was such a great idea. I tried to console myself with the motto "It has to get worse before it can get better," but I'm starting to wonder if it's ever going to get better. I guess this is one of those times I just need to find the courage to finish what I started . . . before my husband goes crazy with the mess I've made.

While I'm still in the midst of my hot mess, I was inspired by these bloggers who have started out the new year with a little organization of their own:

So You Think You're Crafty: New Year Organization

I'm thinking of hiring one of them to come help me ;)

2011 + resolutions

So here we are only a few days into 2011 and I've already broken a few of my resolutions. Oops!

I was thinking that maybe I just needed a good way to remind myself of all of my new goals and I came up with these:

I thought you might also enjoy having an attractive reminder to display your 2011 ambitions, so I have provided the templates for you to use!

Just click on the picture you want below, save the file, and then print it (I recommend cardstock). Then you can fill in the blank with whatever goals you have set for yourself and hang it where you can see it daily (at your desk, by your mirror, on the fridge). Pretty fun, huh?

Here's to success at our new resolutions!

planning ahead

I don't know about you, but every new year I am determined to get myself organized. While I don't always meet my resolution with complete success, I've found that having a day planner keeps me in line. And in a world of ever-increasing technology, a pretty little planner to slip in my purse seems like an indulgence. Not only that, but the prettier the planner, the more I seem to use it. Here are a few pretty little planners I stumbled upon on Etsy. {click the number below for a link to each planner's etsy shop}

inspired: Kate Spade

One of my favorite designers is Kate Spade. I love the bold and whimsical creations. Plus, my first designer handbag was a Kate Spade... and a girl never forgets her first designer handbag. Recently I came across a preview of the new (not-yet-for-sale) book Things We Love by Kate Spade. It's a collection of inspiring images {based on the things we love section of the Kate Spade website}. It makes me want to start my own tangible "things I love" notebook (besides the millions of images saved on my desktop). Nothing like a collection of beautiful images to get your creativity flowing. See for yourself . . .

I especially love this photo of a typewriter because I purchased my very own red typewriter down in Laguna Beach a few years ago.
I wish I looked this stylish on road trips!

Happy Thanksgiving!

*I may or may not have traced my handprint on my computer screen. Nothing like a little update on an old school art project.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know I am. I also know I may have eaten my weight in turkey :)

Don't forget to enter the giveaway in the post below -- the winner will be announced tomorrow!
